Provence is indeed a feast for the eyes and numerous artists have fallen prey to its beauty over the centuries. Van Gogh, Gauguin, Cezanne and Picasso are just a few of the painters who were so inspired by the magical light of Provence that they decided to call it home.

French Provencal fabricsTraditional Provencal fabrics, colorful and elegant, reflect the unique charm of this region. Their history goes back to the 17th century, when cloth from India, arriving by ship in the port of Marseille, inspired local craftsmen to start producing fabric with similar colors and patterns. These were originally called "les Indiennes". Over the centuries, the styles and designs were given a local flavor, with patterns depicting plants and animals typical of the Provencal landscape, such as olives, lavender, cicadas or sunflowers. Thus was born a unique craft.

Today, these fabrics are widely used in France to make tablecloths, kitchen accessories, bags and clothing. Please browse through our products to see the selection of authentic items we have brought from Provence for your enjoyment!
